In this class, students will use different stories as inspiration to explore and experiment with various illustration techniques, book structures, and storytelling styles. They will study well-known classics such as "Where the Wild Things Are" and new favorites such as "Watercress" by Andrea Wang. The class will investigate how stories are told and guide students through inventing and illustrating their narratives. Students will create picture books to share with family and friends at the end of the course, using character-creation exercises, group storytelling games, and artmaking activities.
