Learn the fundamentals of working with glass as well as the science behind the processes most integral to glass art in this STEAM-focused class! Students will create two- and three-dimensional works of art, learning not only how to construct and assemble stained glass designs, but also how to slump glass in the kiln, the laws of thermodynamics as they apply to fused glass, and the chemistry used to create colored glass. Not only will participants in this class use artmaking as a framework to understand complex scientific concepts, but they will also develop a deeper understanding of the materials and processes they use, enhancing both their artistic skills and comprehension.
