Dive into the world of glass and ceramic mosaics in this introductory course! Students will design and create their own small-scale mosaic wall hangings, learn how to safely use tools and supplies in The Current’s glass studio, and uncover the history of mosaics in Ancient Egypt. As they create their own mosaic art pieces, participants in this class will explore the innovative approach of the Ancient Egyptians, who were known for their use of wood, ceramic, precious stones, and glass in their mosaics. Students will have the opportunity to experiment with a variety of materials and weigh the relative merits of each when putting together their final pieces.
