Do you enjoy puzzles and color? Join us for a fun clay class where we'll create a work inspired by your favorite puzzles! In this class, we'll construct small clay pieces to form a larger bowl using a slump mold. You'll learn to sculpt carefully with small wooden tools to refine the edges, as well as techniques like slip-and-scoring and overlapping. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Roy Lichtenstein, Henri Matisse, and Josh Vides, we'll design our color schemes to reflect a POP art style. At the end of the class, we'll finish our creations using sponges and our hands, and then we'll select primary underglaze colors to paint our "puzzle pieces."
Please note: Due to the time necessary for proper drying and firing of ceramic artwork, students should not expect to bring home finished work at the end of the class. All ceramic pieces will be fired and packaged within 2 weeks of the end of class, and students will be notified via email as soon as they are available for pickup.
