This class will be a hybrid of sessions one and two, utilizing both the wheel and hand-building to explore clay fully as an imaginative material. The purpose of this class will be to see clay as a sand box, a space where students can create and play with a material that has the ability to embody the imagination. Students will be able to work on self-directed projects approved by the instructor, and will receive guidance and strategies to build and construct creative and explorative pieces. The purpose of this course is to utilize the full spectrum of building methods to create freely. 
 
Please note: Due to the time necessary for proper drying and firing of ceramic artwork, students should not expect to bring home finished work at the end of the class. All ceramic pieces will be fired and packaged within 2 weeks of the end of class, and students will be notified via email as soon as they are available for pickup.
