The treasured show brings the community together to celebrate and share the joy of the season! Families are invited to shake off the snow and come inside to create holiday decorations, play dreidel games, decorate gingerbread houses with NECI students, and listen to the delightful sounds of the guitar with Javier Bustamante.
Family Day at Helen Day Art Center – A Sweet Success
Stowe, VT - December 14, 2013 - The Helen Day Art Center welcomed families on Saturday afternoon to drop in to make holiday houses out of graham crackers, colorful candies, and gooey frosting with students from the New England Culinary Institute. The sugary creations ranged from quaint mountain cabins to soaring high-rises. Many young participants were eager to share imaginative stories that explained their architectural decisions. Art-making, dreidel games and live music by Javier Bustamante also filled the space. In the galleries, framed by the Art Center’s Festival of Trees and Light and Members’ Art Show exhibits, the final projects from this fall’s Gingerbread Architecture class were on display all weekend.
