About the Event
The Current welcomes Brian Collier, interdisciplinary artist and Professor of Fine Arts at Saint Michael's College, who was ARCA's artist-in-residence in Fontecchio, Italy in October 2025, a collaboration with The Current. Brian creates site-specific research-based projects that explore plants' and animals' coexistence in human-made environments. Collier will be talking about the project he conceived and directed as an artist in residence for ARCA: Art-Regenerations-Community-Living, in the Abruzzo Region of Italy. He was sponsored by The Current for this residency.
He has exhibited work at Palazzo Galli, Fontecchio, Italy; Neues Museum Weserberg Bremen, Germany; Centro de Desarrollo de las Artes Visuales, Havana, Cuba; Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art, CO; CEPA Gallery, Buffalo, NY; 60 Wall Gallery, NYC; Shelburne Museum, VT; Power Plant Gallery, Duke University; Burlington City Arts, VT; and Fleming Museum, VT.
Articles and reviews have appeared in Art in America, The New York Times, Afterimage, Art Papers Magazine, The Chicago Reader, Orion, and The Burlington Free Press. His work is included in the books: Art and Ecology Now, Thames & Hudson; Ecoart In Action, NYU/New Village Press; The Object, MIT/Whitechapel; Weather Report: Art and Climate Change, Ed.
