About the Event
Artist Christopher Curtis will present an evening of conversation, images, and tasting inspired by Ludique, his recent artistic collaboration with acclaimed Parisian pastry chef Pierre Hermé. The event will take place at The Current on Thursday, May 28, from 5–6:30 p.m.
Known for his sculptural work in stone and steel, Curtis will discuss the ideas of play, material transformation, and sensory experience that informed the collaboration. Inspired by Curtis’s Stone Puzzle sculptures, Ludique, French for “playful,” translates sculptural form into an edible work of art crafted in chocolate.
The evening will feature images of Curtis’s work from private and public collections across the United States, alongside reflections on the relationship between sculpture, pleasure, and artistic discovery. Curtis will also speak about Dialogue des Formes, the signature chocolate sculpture created with Hermé. Faithful to Curtis’s original sculptural language, the piece combines dark and milk chocolate atop an almond praline base conceived as a “table,” complete with hidden elements intended for exploration and surprise.
The collaboration reflects a shared artistic philosophy between Curtis and Hermé, whose approach seeks to “balance wonder, intuition, and mystery.”
Guests will have the opportunity to experience a tasting of the signature chocolate sculpture paired with champagne following the presentation.
