A powerful week at The Current.
On Tuesday, interdisciplinary artist Mary Mattingly joined art historian Dr. Julie Reiss for a conversation about art, climate change, and the evolving role of artists in responding to ecological crisis.
Throughout the week, Mary also led cyanotype workshops with 2nd–4th grade students from Stowe Elementary School, where students experimented with composition, pattern, and sunlight to create their own prints, and asked thoughtful questions about her artistic process.
And tonight, our winter series concludes with a student poetry reading featuring 7th and 8th grade students from Stowe Middle School. Inspired by Water Writes the Garden, their poems explore climate change, interconnected life systems, and water as storyteller and timekeeper.

Matthew Ward from the Vermont Department of Health and the Medical Reserve Corp and Sarah Henshaw from the Lamoille Area Recovery Network will discuss their organizations' missions and impact on communities affected by flooding and flooding preparedness, response, and recovery.
