The Current and YoungArts are pleased to announce the launch of a new collaborative artist residency program in Vermont.
The program marks a new partnership for YoungArts in Vermont, expanding its nationwide network of cultural partners that provide artists with opportunities to develop their practices and sustain their careers.
Designed to give artists the time, space, and financial support needed to deepen their creative practice, the residency also creates opportunities for connection and artistic exchange within the local community.
Interdisciplinary artist Timothy Hyunsoo Lee is currently in residence at The Current, marking the program's inaugural edition.
“Everything YoungArts does is in service of artists, and the strongest partnerships begin with asking what an artist needs to move their work forward.” —Clive Chang, President and CEO of YoungArts
We’re excited to see what Timothy explores here and to build on this collaboration for future residents.

Stone. Wood. Ceramic. Steel.
Five artists in "Exposed 2026" reveal just how much a material can communicate.
M. Julian Isaacson carves Vermont marble into a reflection on the strength and tenderness of the bond between mother and child.
Scott Boyd inscribes endangered writing systems into endangered Vermont ash, exploring language as memory, identity, and cultural survival.
Marcel Regueiro transforms marble into abstract forms inspired by the natural world.
Eva Tellier uses ceramics and organic materials to imagine new possibilities for bodies and identities beyond conventional ideas of femininity.
Christopher Yockey transforms reclaimed industrial I-beams into a composition balancing movement, repetition, structure, and instability.
Different materials. Different perspectives. Five ways of asking what sculpture can communicate.
📍 Discover their works throughout Stowe as part of Exposed 2026, on view through October 17.

We’re still thinking about this night.
Earlier this month, choreographer, performer, educator, and artist Christal Brown joined us for "Currently Speaking: Ritual, Repetition, and Transformation."
Surrounded by the six channels of Miles Greenberg’s "LE MIROIR," Brown performed an intimate, improvisational work drawn from her ongoing practice, "What We Ask of Flesh." Having spent only minutes with Greenberg’s installation beforehand, she allowed the two artists’ practices to “collide” in real time.
Moving among Greenberg’s shifting images, Brown gradually invited audience members into the performance itself, collapsing the boundary between performer and witness.
Afterward, audience members described the experience as surprising, intense, sacred, athletic, mysterious, evocative—and even confusing. Brown welcomed every response, leading us into a conversation about ritual, presence, risk, and transformation.
As Brown reminded us, “The rituals get heightened when the ritual has a witness.”
🔗 Experience the performance and conversation for yourself—watch the full video at the link in our bio.
Thank you, Christal, for an unforgettable evening—and to everyone who came willing to witness, participate, and be changed by the experience. ❤️

This year, "Exposed" honors sculptor Christopher Curtis.
For more than fifty years, Curtis has created sculptures that explore the intersection of geology, astronomy, natural materials, and contemporary fabrication. Working in stone, stainless steel, and corten steel, he creates forms that feel at once ancient and modern.
His work can be found in more than 250 public and private collections across the United States, including the U.S. Federal Reserve and the U.S. Embassy in Copenhagen.
Beyond his own artistic accomplishments, Curtis played a pivotal role in shaping "Exposed" itself. As an early curator and longtime exhibitor, he helped establish the exhibition's enduring presence throughout Stowe and its commitment to bringing contemporary sculpture into conversation with the landscape.
We are proud to celebrate his extraordinary contributions to both Vermont art and the history of "Exposed"

No two visits are ever the same.
For "Exposed 2026" Tomokazu Matsuyama presents two mirror-polished stainless steel sculptures—"Double Jeopardy!" and "Wheels of Fortune," works that continuously transform as they reflect changing skies, landscapes, architecture, and visitors.
"Wheels of Fortune" combines deer antlers and an intricate wheel form, referencing the Shinto belief that deer serve as messengers to the gods. "Double Jeopardy!" explores cycles of flourishing and fading through figures carrying flowers in bloom and decline, reflecting Matsuyama's interest in balance, duality, and transformation.
Drawing from both Japanese and Western visual traditions, Matsuyama creates works that explore identity, cultural exchange, and the complexities of contemporary life.
Look closely, and you may find yourself reflected in the work.

Where does a performance end and a sculpture begin?
Installed as part of Exposed 2026, Miles Greenberg's Orpheus I emerges from glitched 3D scans of performers in motion.
Named after the mythological figure who could not resist looking back, the sculpture explores memory, longing, transformation, and the traces left behind by the body.

Seven hours.
Eight performers.
One pool of vermillion red.
Originally staged as a seven-hour live performance, TЯUTH transforms endurance, combat, and choreography into an immersive installation experience.
Bodies painted in black oil engage in improvised duels, creating a work that feels at once ritualistic, cinematic, and deeply human.

ICYMI: the full recording of the conversation with Miles Greenberg is available to view at the link in our bio.
Both exhibitions remain on view through October 17.
We hope to see you soon.
What happens when you're placed inside a performance rather than in front of it?
"LE MIROIR" surrounds visitors with six synchronized video channels arranged in a circle, transforming the viewer from observer into participant.
Inspired by Andrey Tarkovsky's 1975 film "The Mirror," "LE MIROIR" is a surreal queer love story inspired by the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, shot between the live performance in Marrakech at El Badii Palace and the Emirati Desert on the border of Oman. The resulting work is Greenberg's most ambitious video piece to date.
Presented at The Current for the first time in the United States.
On view through October 17.
This exhibition is sponsored by:
The Alchemist Foundation
Lillian + Billy Mauer
Hinda + Joel Miller
Vermont Arts Council + National Endowment for the Arts
