Currently Speaking is The Current’s new series of talks exploring contemporary art topics. The series will host experts in a range of contemporary art genres and media. The Current looks forward to welcoming community members in casual discourse with the speakers and meaningful interactions with the art they showcase.

Based in Stowe, VT, sculptor Chris Curtis will speak about his recent sculpture That Place in the Stars, tracing the work’s 2022 journey from Vermont to its permanent home in Oklahoma. The 24’ tall stainless steel sculpture was first installed at Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe before its multi-stop exhibition across the United States began. Curtis will discuss the work’s concept and creation, the vision behind publicly exhibiting and documenting the sculpture in transit, and the logistics involved in transporting That Place in the Stars cross-country in a flatbed truck.

Free to the public with a suggested donation of $10. No reservation is required.

Refreshments will be served.
