This class will explore the fundamentals of the ceramic process and help students to develop an understanding of making pots on the wheel, trimming, glazing and firing. Each week, students will  practice forming clay objects on the potters wheel, gradually seeing their pieces through the making process until their creation is fired by the instructor and brought home. The purpose of this course is to introduce students to forming with clay on the wheel, understanding the qualities of clay and to begin to see a piece of pottery as an imaginative, creative and useful object.

Please note: Due to the time necessary for proper drying and firing of ceramic artwork, students should not expect to bring home finished work at the end of the class. All ceramic pieces will be fired and packaged within 2 weeks of the end of class, and students will be notified via email as soon as they are available for pickup.
