Create unique wearable art from recycled materials, found objects, and repurposed treasures! This workshop explores the dominant material used in Chakiah Booker’s striking sculptural works, reclaimed tires. We will combine recycled tires with traditional jewelry-making supplies to create unique earrings, pendants, and bracelets. By layering shapes cut from recycled rubber, braiding, knotting, and assembling complex forms, participants in this class will create art, in miniature, using many of the same processes and materials used by Chakiah Booker to construct her monumental sculptures.
