Students in this class will learn to use both a traditional Etching Press and a 3D Printer to create artworks that combine traditional and experimental artmaking techniques. Inspired by the Open Press Project, this class focuses on using the technology of 3D printing to create printing plates, presses, and tools for use in traditional printmaking processes. Throughout this session, students will explore relief printing and chine-colle techniques, and learn to silkscreen on fabric, paper, and more. As they learn the technical skills inherent to printmaking, students in this class will expand their knowledge of digital modeling and 3D printing through the process of designing unique sculptures and printing plates.
