Explore foundational archetypes and motifs found in mythologies around the world through this exciting journey into narrative painting! In this class students will read and illustrate stories from cultures including ancient Greece, Abenaki tribes, and the Yoruba civilizations of West Africa, discover their own narrative voice, and experiment with performing and painting their own original stories. Using the work of contemporary artist Harmonia Rosales as inspiration, participants in this class will reimagine the stories told by historic works of art such as Nighthawks by Edward Hopper and Carrivagio’s Narcissus, creating their own unique visual narratives.
