From the Terracotta Warriors of the Qin Dynasty in China to the agrarian sculptures of Syd Carpenter, ceramic art has always been about so much more than tableware. Students in this dynamic sculptural camp will study the history of sculptural ceramics, learn various building techniques for making their own large and small-scale creations, and rejoice in the versatility of clay as a multifaceted medium. Throughout this week-long camp, participants will create their own abstract and representational sculptures and learn a variety of decorative techniques, including painting with slip, glaze, and wax resist, to create a wide range of visual effects on their finished pieces.

Please note: Due to the time necessary for proper drying and firing of ceramic artwork, campers should not expect to bring home finished work at the end of the week. All ceramic pieces will be fired and packaged within 2 weeks following the end of camp, and families will be notified via email as soon as they are available for pickup.
